Communications Specialist

Part-time Non-exempt Position (20-25 hrs/week)

About the Role: The Communications Specialist works closely with the strategic communications manager to advance the communication goals of key initiatives, develop and implement communications, marketing, education and awareness strategies; creates engaging content for internal and external audiences, including marketing materials and internal documents. Supports work to enhance RMTA brand awareness and the delivery of exceptional customer service, employee engagement and communications. Handles RMTA’s digital assets, including web content, electronic newsletters and social media platforms. May be responsible for the dissemination of roadway incident alerts. Maintaining regular, reliable on-site presence as a part of a hybrid work schedule is an essential function of this position.

Education and Experience Required: Two years of college or more, a major in journalism, strategic communications, marketing, public relations, public policy, English or related field is preferred. Minimum 1.5 years of experience, including internships and volunteer work. Experience in the public sector, transit, tolling or transportation industry is a plus. Bilingual in English and Spanish is also a plus.
