RMTA Is Moving to a 30-Day Statement Cycle

RMTA Is Moving to a 30-Day Statement Cycle

RMTA is transitioning to a 30-day, instead of 15-day, statement cycle. Statements reflecting  tolls from the 30-day cycle will be mailed beginning in September.

What does this mean for customers?

Moving forward, customers  who do not have E-ZPass will receive their statements approximately every 30 days instead of every 15 days, giving them fewer statements and a more consolidated view of their toll charges. Statements will cover a longer period of toll activity.  The change in statement frequency does not change toll rates or fines.

No action is required—customers should follow the payment instructions and observe the due dates listed on their received  statements.

Questions?

We understand that changes to statement timing can raise questions. Customers who have questions about RMTA’s transition period or their statements, including balances or due dates, may call customer service at 1-833-990-5405 (Monday – Friday, 7 a.m.- 7 p.m., Eastern Standard Time, except holidays).

Thank you for your support as we  transition to a 30-day statement cycle, designed to provide a more consistent, streamlined and convenient experience for our customers.

FAQs

What Is Changing?

  • Customers were receiving statements on a 15-day cycle.
  • RMTA has now moved to generating statements every 30-days.
  • Statements will be issued less frequently and should show tolls incurred for approximately 30 days.
  • As part of the transition, RMTA has enhanced statements by adding vehicle license plate numbers in the upper right corner of the summary page, providing an additional way for customers to identify the vehicles associated with toll transactions.
  • Statement descriptions have also been updated to align with the toll escalation process and are presented more clearly on the detailed transaction page,  improving transparency and making the information easier to understanding.

What Does This Mean for Customers?

  • Customers will receive fewer statements throughout the year.
  • Each statement will provide a longer, more consolidated view of toll charges.
  • Rates and fines have not changed. An individual statement may have a higher balance than customers are accustomed to seeing simply because it covers approximately 30 days rather than 15 days.
  • Customers should use the current statement’s payment amount and due date when determining what they need to pay.

What Customers Need to Know?

  • Customers’ first statement under the new cycle  will include new tolls, fines associated with previous unpaid tolls, as well as payments, credit and adjustments processed during the transition period.
  • Statements will cover a longer activity period than a standard billing cycle to ensure all account activity is accurately reflected.
  • Customers statements will clearly identify the statement period and applicable payment information.
  • Customers will not be charged late fees on tolls incurred during the transition period while RMTA moved to the 30-day statement cycle, as long as payments are made by the due date listed on the statement.
  • Customers should review their first 30-day statement carefully and contact RMTA with any questions.

 Will Customers’ Charges Change?

  • Pay-By-Plate toll rates remains the same. View toll rates at this link.
  • The primary change is how often customers receive their statements.

 Will Payment Due Dates Change?

  • Other than the transition to a 30-day, instead of 15-day, statement cycle, RMTA’s  policy regarding payments and fines remains the same. (See escalation chart below.)

  • Customers should rely on the payment due date printed on their current statement. Payments should be received by RMTA by the printed due date.
  • If you have questions about your payment or due date, please contact customer service at 1-833-990-5405 (Monday – Friday, 7 a.m.- 7 p.m., Eastern Standard Time, except holidays).

Do Customers Need to Take Action?

  • No action is required. All Pay-By- Plate customers will automatically be transitioned to the new 30-day statement cycle.

E-ZPass customers should not receive statements as long as their E-ZPass accounts are properly funded and their vehicle information, including license plate numbers are up to date on their E-ZPass accounts.

Why Is RMTA Making This Change?

  • The 30-day statement cycle will provide a more consistent, streamlined and convenient experience for our customers.
  • It will simplify the statement process.
